Today we'll be reviewing the Hollywood Racks bike adapter bar for alternative frame bikes, part number is HRBA-PRO. This is also available in the extra large version, part number HRBA-PRO-XL. The adapter bar is going to allow you to adapt your women's, children's or nontraditional bike frame to fit a wide variety of bike racks. The bar is constructed of a sturdy steel with a black powder coat finish which is nice to hold up against rust and corrosion. The bar also features a limited lifetime warranty. Telescoping the bar will allow you to achieve a range of different bike frames from 15-1/4 to 28 and 3/4. In a fully extended position, the bar will lock into place with the push button.

Pressing the button will allow you to slide it back in to make a smaller adjustment. Pushing the gold button down is going to allow you to swing the lever open so you can use the clamp. The non-marking plastic clamps are going to help to protect your bike's finish. There is both a larger and smaller collar. The larger collar offers an inside dimension of 3-1/2 inches in length and the width comes to almost 2-1/4.

For the smaller collar our length is 3-1/4 inches and the width is about 1-1/2 inches. We'll now fit the bar to our nontraditional style bike. We'll start by extending it a little and then you'll want to open up your clamps. We'll hook it around the seat post and then move to the handle bar post and repeat the process. You can then press it together. We'll get our bike loaded onto the rack.

For demonstration purposes, we're going to load it on to the slot closest to us but keep in mind at home if you're only hauling 1 or 2 bikes, you want to load them in the closest opening to the vehicle. We'll secure all of our straps and we're ready to hit the road. With our bike loaded, we'll go ahead and take it out on our test course so you can see how it's going to look in action. We have our slalom which will show you the side to side action. The alternating bumps is going to give you an idea of the twisting motion. The solid bumps will show you the up and down movement of the rack.
