Описание: Dr. Abhay Singh Thakur is an Assistant Professor at Gujarat Maritime University. He also holds the position of Director (I/C) of the School of Maritime Law, Policy and Administration, is a Member of the Board of Management, and serves as the Centre Head of the Centre for Maritime Environmental Law at the University. He brings with him over a decade of experience that spans both academia and the maritime industry. His core areas of expertise include Shipping Laws and Regulations, Marine Environmental Law, and the Law of International Carriage.

Dr. Thakur has presented his research at prestigious national and international platforms. Notable among them are the 46th Conference on Ocean, Law and Policy organised by Ankara University in collaboration with the US Naval War College, the International Association of Maritime Economists Conference in Rotterdam, and the International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Maritime Safety and Technology in Malaysia.

His academic contributions have been recognised, with numerous publications in SCOPUS, Web of Science, and UGC-indexed international journals. In recognition of his domain expertise, he is regularly invited as a resource person by reputed institutions such as Gujarat National Law University, Indian Maritime University, Karnavati University, IFIM Law School, CARE, VMLS, and TNDALU, where he delivers lectures on key and contemporary maritime issues.

Dr. Thakur holds a Doctorate in Law from Gujarat National Law University, where he remains actively engaged in multidisciplinary research focusing on maritime environmental law and shipping contracts. He is also UGC-NET qualified and holds an LL.M. from the prestigious West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata. He has further enhanced his expertise through professional training at the Yeosu Academy of the Law of the Sea, South Korea, Erasmus University, Rotterdam, and Chennai Port Trust in the fields of maritime law and port management.
