Описание: Earl Martin Phalen is the CEO of Reach Out and Read and Founder of Summer Advantage USA. Reach Out and Read is a non-profit that makes literacy promotion a standard party of pediatric primary care, so that children grow up with books and a love of reading. It trains 25,000 doctors and nurses to advise parents about the importance of reading aloud and to give books to children at pediatric checkups from 6 months to 5 years of age. Reach Out and Reach serves 3.8 million children per year at 4,500 sites throughout the country.
Summer Advantage USA partners with school districts to provide high quality summer learning programs that have been scientifically proven to cumulatively produce 5 months of academic gain for scholars. In its pilot summer, Summer Advantage educated over 1,00 children. Summer Advantage aims to provide quality summer learning programs to over 100,000 children nationwide.
Earl is the Founder of BELL (Building Educated Leaders for Life), and organization that operates summer and after school educational programs. Under Earls leadership, BELL grew from a local community service project to a national non-profit education 15,000 students annually. Earl is a Mind Trust and Ashoka Fellow, and a three-time recipient of Fast Companys Social Capitalist Award, and a Presidents Service Award winner. Earl holds a B.A. from Yale University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
