Описание: It could easily have turned into the bloodiest moment in Council Bluffs history. In a protest over low commodity prices, rogue farmers blocked highways into town. No-nonsense Pottawattamie County Sheriff Percy Lainson arrested all of them, jamming 160 prisoners into a jail designed for a third that many. When a mob formed to break the prisoners out, Sheriff Lainson swore in 100 special deputies, outfitted them with sophisticated weapons from the armory, and ordered them to shoot to kill should anyone try and take his jail.
