The Gravel Ride That Broke Me - The Maldon Wyrm

Описание: What was meant to be a smooth 40-mile gravel adventure on The Maldon Wyrm turned into one of the most chaotic days I’ve ever had on a bike.
I set off expecting a scenic loop through Chelmsford, Maldon, and the surrounding woods… but instead, everything slowly fell apart.
First came the rain. Then my sat nav stopped working properly, sending me the wrong way and leaving me lost more times than I could count. A fall on a slippery trail shook me up, only for a golf ball to be blasted over my head moments later. Then one of my bike bags opened, and I started losing bits of my recording gear without realising it.
By this point, I was behind schedule, soaked, muddy, and stressed — and eventually I realised I was going to be late collecting my kids from school. That was the turning point. I pulled the plug on the ride and headed for the nearest train station… only to get a puncture on the way there.
This wasn’t the adventure I planned — but it’s definitely one I won’t forget.
Sometimes, you really do have to know when to walk away.
