Koh Mak is situated close to other popular islands like Koh Kood and Koh Chang, and I’d recommend visiting all three whilst you’re here. How to get there 🛥️ The journey to Koh Mak is a long one, which I imagine puts most people off, but trust me, it’s worth it. You can take a bus from Bangkok to Trat (approximately a 5-hour journey) and then catch a ferry to Koh Mak, which takes around an hour. Alternatively, you can fly from Bangkok to Trat to skip the long bus journey. Things to do 🐠 Koh Mak is a small island and there’s not loads to do here, but therein lies its appeal. There’s great beaches scattered about the island and I’d recommend hiring a scooter or a golf buggy (a very popular mode of transport here) to explore. It’s a great place to snorkel and dive, and you can’t miss a day trip to nearby Ko Kham island, located just a short boat ride away.
