Описание: Calvary Baptist Church. Holston Road, Sullivan County, Tennessee. 11:50 PM. Saturday. November. A biker sees a light through a church window. The church should be dark. The door is unlocked — it's been unlocked for forty-one years.

Inside, a boy is sitting in the third pew on the left side. Alone. Midnight. A packed duffel bag next to him. Everything he owns in one bag.

Micah was ten. His stepdad changed every lock in the house that day. Gave his mom a key. Didn't give Micah one. At eight o'clock, Micah packed his bag and walked out the front door. Brian watched him leave from the living room. Didn't say a word. Didn't stop him. Micah's mom said "Brian, he's leaving." Brian said: "The lock works both ways. Out is a direction too."

Micah walked to the church because the door is always open. His real dad used to sit in the third pew. The pew doesn't change. The pew doesn't change the locks. The pew just holds whoever sits in it.

Hollis "Cam" Wyrick — machinist, Vice President of the Spindle MC — saw the light. Walked in. Sat on the same pew. And listened to a boy explain why a church pew is safer than a house with new locks.
