Описание: Before most teenagers had figured out career options, Sarthak Sidhant was digging through government tenders, and what he found shook India’s education establishment to its core.
When thousands of students flooded social media with complaints about CBSE’s botched On-Screen Marking re-evaluation, Sarthak did what seasoned journalists hadn’t: he published a meticulously researched blog post exposing serious questions about how Coempt Eduteck was awarded the tender. Last week, the 18-year-old presented his findings before a parliamentary panel. The CBSE chairman and secretary were later shunted out.
His one message to CBSE and the education minister after all of this? “Be transparent and be accountable.”
In this exclusive conversation with Manisha Pande, Sarthak opens up about the kid he was – raised by computer engineers in a PSU-controlled city, using a mouse at age three, growing restless about civic neglect. He describes growing up in Bokaro, a city owned by a steel plant, where “you don’t get to question who is your mayor, you don’t get to question roads because they are never going to be fixed.” Moving to Ranchi after his father’s death changed everything. Suddenly there were politicians to hold accountable, and Sarthak had the technical instincts to do it.
On how he and fellow student whistleblowers found the courage to speak up when even adults were afraid, he puts it simply: “If people are willing enough, strong enough, courageous enough, they’ll likely take it forward.” As for the courage amid all the trolling? “That was because of my upbringing.”
He is soft-spoken, self-deprecating (a “dork,” not a nerd, he insists), and fearless. This conversation will stay with you.
