IMPRI CIDP-UF- Web Policy Talk and release of Telephonic Survey Findings of Life in Era of COVID-19: Impact of Lockdown 3.0 on CityMakers
IMPRI Impact and Policy Research Institute प्रभाव एवं नीति अनुसंधान संस्थान and Centre for International Planning and Design (CIDP), University of Florida (UF) UF College of Design, Construction and Planning organised a #WebPolicyTalk and Release of Telephonic Survey-based Study Findings on Life in the Era of COVID-19: #Impact of Lockdown 3.0 on #CityMakers on May 27, 2020 at 18:00 IST (+5:30 GMT).
Brief Background of the Study: The impact of the novel coronavirus is unprecedented as more than 100 countries have instituted partial or full lockdown affecting more than a billion people at any given time. India, with 1.3 billion people, had the largest population under complete lockdown. The lockdown in India has been particularly difficult for #CityMakers - the urban poor, especially those engaged in the unorganized sector and living in informal settlements.
Aim of the Study: The purpose of the Survey was to understand the implications of the lockdown on the urban poor, in terms of their living conditions, access to basic facilities and government assistance, mental well-being, and preparedness.
Methodology of the Study: Our team undertook a pan-India telephonic survey-based study to understand the impact of lockdown on the CityMakers. The telephonic survey was conducted between May 7th, 2020, and May 17th, 2020. This study builds upon our recently published study - Where Will the City-Maker Stay? - by ActionAid and IMPRI.
Study Partners: The study was conducted and coordinated by @IIMPRI Impact and Policy Research Institute प्रभाव एवं नीति अनुसंधान संस्थान in association with UF College of Design, Construction and Planning with support from ActionAid India, Outline India and local NGO Partners- Manavdhara An Ngo (Jharkhand), ASHA Jharkhand, and Sadik Masih Medical Social Servant Society - Regd., Delhi, and several academic partners consisting of reputed Higher Education Institutions across the country.
