OUTLINE
• Minimal darkroom instruction for beginners
• Developing photographic films and papers with natural products: what works and what is convenient.
• Contact print of the negatives developed with experimental natural alchemy
• Selection ad printing of portrait with an enlarger on silver halide photographic paper
• Technical and linguistic evaluation following "Verifica n.8 " by Ugo Mulas: we analyze the artistic rendering of portraits obtained with different photographic optics and smartphones.
Pourposes
Do we do this to save on purchasing commercial products or to reduce the environmental impact of waste chemicals? It's not a new idea to use garden produce to develop film, but few know how to get good results in a short time. Be careful though! Nature's inevitable surprises bring some dose of suspense: the outcome is highly probable, but not guaranteed. To do our tests we take a couple of rolls of photos, at medium and high sensitivity, using a traditional reflex camera. So we take this opportunity to reflect on the use of suitable or unsuitable photographic lenses for portraiture, following thefamous example of Verification no. 8 by Ugo Mulas, and understand how to manage equivalent focal lengths with a smartphone.
Tips

It is recommended that you have already had a minimum amount of experience taking photographs with analogue film cameras equipped with interchangeable or at least zoom lenses, please, wear clothing and shoes that are expendable or of little importance, given the possibility of stains or inadvertent splashes of chemical products.
