The Far North Queensland area was our final destination of our travel to Australia. We flew to Cairns from the Outback to a warm humid and exciting part of this vast Country. Australia is well known for its Great Barrier Reef with its incredible undersea garden of colorful corals, giant clams, beautiful tropical fish of many sizes and colors. The region is also known for its tropical rain-forests with its diversity of vegetation, animals, spiders, birds and scenery.
Arriving in Cairns, we headed to Port Douglas where we made our home base as we ventured this area. Our first adventure was to snorkel the Great Barrier Reef with its beauty and diversity of the reef life. We then traveled back to Cairns to take the Kuranda Scenic Railroad into the Rainforest to the small community of Kuranda. After we visited this community we hiked into the surrounding jungle before taking the "Skyrail Rainforest Cableway" back to Cairns giving us a whole different perspective of the rainforest from. Our Final adventure took us north of Port Douglas into the Daintree Rainforest where we crossed rivers on small ferry's, took a river trip on a small tour boat, had fresh fish lunch deeper in the forest backcountry and hiked trails in the Daintree National Park seeing unique and interesting reptiles and birds including the large endangered "Southern Cassowary" bird that is known a "living dinosaur" because of its origin being 65 million years ago.
This is the Final chapter of our incredible Australian adventure. I hope you enjoy this video as much as we enjoyed being there.
