Описание: Tamil Struggle 101 is an online study group by PEARL, discussing the history of the Tamil resistance and liberation movement and Tamil nationalist politics in the context of the Sinhala Buddhist state of Sri Lanka. It was conducted from April to July 2020.

On Saturday August 23rd 2020, People for Equality and Relief Lanka (PEARL) hosted a specialized reading session on Gender and Activism with Sivakami Rajamanoharan and Roshni Raveenthiran.

Sivakami Rajamanoharan
Sivakami Rajamanoharan has over 15 years experience in Tamil political activism, advocating for Tamil political rights, justice and accountability for crimes committed against the Tamil people. She is currently working as PEARL’s Senior Advocacy Officer for the United Kingdom. She was previously the Editor-in-Chief of the  Tamil Guardian, an online news site. Sivakami  has experience working with a number of Tamil diaspora organisations and undertaking advocacy work at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. 

Roshni Raveenthiran 
Roshni Raveenthiran (pronouns she/her) is Tamil educator and community organizer born and raised in Tkaronto (Toronto) who has achieved a B.A in Psychology and a Social Service Worker diploma to further their career in social work focusing on supporting Tamil and BIPOC communities. She has over 5 years experience advocating for Tamil communities and supporting student activism in Toronto. Her Tamil identity and lived experiences continue to empower her to challenge mainstream narratives through media and education like being the previous Producer for Hair Tales, a web series focusing on the experiences of hair in the Tamil community and the co-founder for #TamilReads, a digital platform for Tamil/Eelam reads, Tamil education, mentorship and community building.
