14th century Social, Political, Religious Conditions | Cantebury Tales - Age of Chaucer
This video is about Geoffrey Chaucer's age which witnessed four major events - the Black Death, the Labour Unrest, the Peasants' Revolt and Lollards Movement; it was, in short, a period of transition. The Roman Church was at the lowest ebb of corruption and it imparted no relief to people and didn't give any moral message. The feudal system of lords was changing but not without violence into a society. The middle class had arisen which was growing steadily in riches and power. The representatives had a say in the Parliament. Thus, the common people acquired some prestige that made them conscious of the literary activity of the period. John Gower and Geoffrey Chaucer had criticised the system in their works - John Gover in his "Vox Clamantis" and Chaucer in his 'The Canterbury Tales".
This video gives all valuable information and will cater to the people.
