Kendrapara's controversial Tikhiri Sarpanch Chameli Ojha has been granted bail by the SDJM Court. The court approved her release on a bail bond of ₹30,000 along with two sureties in connection with the alleged police assault case.

Chameli Ojha's lawyer claimed that the allegations made by the police and BDO are false. Meanwhile, Chameli's father demanded strict action against those who allegedly misbehaved with her. Currently, Chameli Ojha is undergoing treatment in a hospital.

In a major development, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought reports from the Kendrapara District Collector and Superintendent of Police regarding the incident. NHRC has directed authorities to conduct a proper investigation and submit a report within 15 days.
