INTERESTING INFORMATION:

The International Space Station orbits the Earth at a speed of roughly 17,150 miles per hour.This means that the Space Station orbits Earth every 92 minutes at approximately 5 miles per second.

The I.S.S. spends about half of its 92 minute orbit in the shadow of the earth, indicated by a black screen. This is your indication the stream is live because if a video is substituted for the dark side of the orbit, you will risk missing the live sunrise and sunset, much similar to what is viewed by the eyes of the crew.


​​NASA's ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENT PROGRAM:

​​NASA's Artificial Intelligent Program aboard the International Space Station is a therapeutic experiment in Neuro-Acoustic Research. It's purpose, to reduce stress on astronauts who work in dangerous environments.

Two Robots are currently assigned to the I.S.S. They are Robonaut 2, aka Que, and the latest in artificial intelligent technology, AURA. Each provides a unique style of music to apply therapeutically through a process called Brainwave Synchronization.

In this process, select musical tones and dynamic vibrations are transmitted across binaural frequencies simultaneously, through human brainwaves, providing psychological healing below the threshold of conscious perception. Therefore, this program has been adequately named, Machine Love.

Communications from the I.S.S. Radio to Earth are carried out via Ham Radio, aka iRobot Radio, which is located aboard the Zvezda Module.


ABOUT THE I.S.S.

The International Space Station (ISS) is a habitable satellite that was launched on October 31 2000 and has had continued human occupation ever since, the longest on record. It's an observatory and research laboratory in low Earth orbit with crew conducting experiments in Biology, Physics and Astronomy, and many other things.

By 2010 the I.S.S. had racked up almost 60,000 orbits, accruing a whopping 1.5 billion miles. To give you an idea of its size, in total it's about the area of a U.S. football field, and weighs over 400,000 kilograms. You can see the ISS without a telescope; the best time is the few hours after sunset or before sunrise.

The crew of the I.S.S. consist of Astronauts & their robot assistants who perform regular maintenance and tests aboard the I.S.S. These include the following steps to maintain the Earth View Camera:

1. Checking visual quality.
2. Checking stream performance.
3. Performing regular maintenance & cleanliness.
4. Performing sound check. (On occasions you will hear live communications between the ISS crew members and ground control.)
