Turkish Rice pilav (pilaf) with orzo pasta.
Ingredients
1 cup rice of your choice
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp butter
1/4 cup orzo pasta
Green chilli (optional)
Lemongrass (optional)
Salt or chicken stock
3 cups hot water
Cooking Method-
-Soak the rice in hot salty water for one hour. This step is important to have a fluffy nice pilav.
-In a pan add olive oil, butter and orzo pasta
and sauté stirring frequently until it has a golden to light brown color.
-Meanwhile, drain the rice from salty water and wash for 1-2 times until there is no starch left and the water is clear. Drain the water as much as you can.
-Add the rice to the pan and continue to sauté for about 4-5 minutes.
-Add salt/chicken stock ,lemongrass ,green chillies and hot water.
-Close the lid and cook on low flame
about 10-15 minutes.
-Turn off the heat and let it rest for 10 minutes. Open the lid and gently stir the rice .
-Wait for 5 more minutes and serve warm.
