Fire crews were tonight called out to a blaze on an industrial estate in Bromborough.
Crews were called to the site, thought to be a recycling unit, just off Stadium Road and huge plumes of black smoke could be seen for miles around.
The fire appears to be confined to an industrial site and well away from homes, although smoke is drifting over a nearby estate.
Stadium Road has been closed off while firefighters tackle the blaze.
Crowds of people are believed to have gathered in the area to watch the fire - which can be seen across Liverpool and as far afield as Fazakerly hospital.
