The breast biopsy is sometimes the step that comes after you have found a breast mass or after an anomaly has been noted on your breast exam. This tissue sampling is meant to further determine the nature of you lesion and achieve a precise diagnosis. It can be done in your doctor’s clinic, or under imaging guidance in a diagnostic radiology department.
Whenever we tell a patient she needs to go for a biopsy, her reaction and questions are often the same: How is it going to be? Is it going to hurt? Am I going to be put to sleep? Is the needle big? Etc…
