He's a common broken man
Waking up at 5am
He just wants to understand
How this cycle came to be

In the signals he sees a dance
But he's way too afraid to take a chance
Nothing's going as he planned
'Cause this life don't come for free

He keeps failing lately
To love again
So keep trying maybe
To make a friend
Too closed-off and lazy
To make amends
This is not the way to treat yourself

He's a common broken man
Waiting for a new release
Singing songs he's always sang
But can't seem to find some peace

As he's staring into the sand
Too lost in his world to see you go
Love is slipping from his hands
And controls his life no more

He keeps failing lately
To see again
How dumb and stupid
He's always been
Not applying pressure
But still always bends
This is not the way to treat yourself

And in his dreams he lies
Under a clear and starry sky
But then clouds start rolling by
He's way too self-absorbed to try

He's a lonely broken man
Dreaming away his chance at life
And the end keeps nearing him
As the clock keeps ticking by

He keeps failing lately
To be again
A nicer person
On which he could depend
Inside he knows well
The why and when
This is not the way to treat yourself

And in his eyes you see
A will to live and disagree
Content to scrape on by
The broken man has finally learned to cry
