The high pressure oil system on the Ford 6.0L Diesel has many seals which can develop leaks over time. As these engines get older, more and more people are encountering leaks at the Nipple Cups. There are 2 seals which seal the Nipple Cup to the oil Rails and fuel injectors. One is the Nipple Cup Seal and one is the Fuel Injector Top Seal.
You must replace them both at the same time because a bad Nipple Cup seal always attacks and destroys the fuel injector top seal. How does this happen? Well the high pressure oil that leaks past the Nipple Cup Seal follows the body of the nipple cup down to the Fuel Injector Top Seal on the other end. Depending on the severity of your leak you can have minor wear, or complete failure. A completely bad nipple cup seal can take our your top injector seal in less than 1000 miles if it is bad enough.
