In this video we set up a TRMNL device to run modified firmware that points to a local network + web server. Since filming this video, there are now 3+ OSS server clients:
1. https://github.com/usetrmnl/byos_sinatra
2. https://github.com/usetrmnl/byos_phoenix
3. https://github.com/usetrmnl/byos_django
In addition, the firmware no longer needs to be modified to point to your desired server endpoint. Simply choose "Custom' from the WiFi captive portal and input your own domain:
