Remembering Vincent Campbell (with new footage from his last concert)

Описание: With this video we will remember Vincent Campbell who departed from us last year in December. He was and is one of the legends of Donegal fiddle music who had learned his trade from the travelling musicians, the Dohertys. We often admired when for example in a crowded pub Vincent would pick up his fiddle and everyone fell silent to listen to the old tunes played in a style which was so unique to Vincent. Before each tune he would go over the strings to check the tuning, this pattern of playing it is still in my ears today. Once he started to play you would see an amazing serenity in his face. It was when you'd see him most relaxed and happy.
In 2016 we recorded some of the tunes he played during the annual Fiddlers Gathering in Glenties on stage with just a little camera. We didn't realize then that it would be the last time he would play openly in a concert. Later I also realized that I had lost my SD card with the precious footage. I nearly turned the house over to find it, but it never turned up. Only a few days ago looking through the photographs I had of Vincent I discovered that I had indeed saved the footage on my hard drive. What a joy to look at them. Not keeping them for ourselves I added this footage to our homage to Vincent Campbell. Our respects go to Vincent Campbell's family and friends.
