In this video, we capture Class 45 Peak 45118 The Royal Artilleryman hauling The Master Cutler from Leeds to London St Pancras & return on Monday 26th May 2025, rewinding back the years for the Midland Mainline when Peaks use to run daily services to the capital!
We start at Tupton, just south of Chesterfield storming away from it's pick up point at good pace.
Please do excuse how this shot looks different to the photograph on the thumbnail, I had to move over to the correct side of the sun rather quickly as it had not long been out and I'd originally hoped it wasn't going to come out and it was the only shot in good lighting of the day lol!
The next shot on the outward sees the Peak still storming soutbound at the site of the former Clay Cross Station sounding very nice indeed.
We fast forward to the evening where we see the Class 45 on the return leg recreating scenes of yesteryear at Chesterfield arriving and departing from platform 1 as she hauled the tour back to Leeds sounding fantastic whilst departing for Sheffield!
For our last shot we enjoy the sights and sounds of 45118 at Dronfield climbing the 1 in 102 incline of Dronfield Bank sounding superb and making the challenging gradient look as if it wasn't there truly showing the impressive power of the Class 45s!
Overall, another great day seeing one of the mainlines most legendary diesel locomotives in home territory doing what she does best!
