1. The first step is to get out of your head. Many people stop themselves from ever meeting men or women because they are frustrated or overly analytical and are afraid of rejection.

2. To get out of your head, it is important to adopt an abundant mindset and to have fun. An abundant mindset means to not feel like there is only person out there in the world for you but instead to walk through life with the knowledge that you have many options.

3. To create an abundant mindset, you need to create a social practice. A social practice is created by going out every day and socializing with people during your daily life whether that be at the grocery store or the park or the coffee shop or anywhere else you generally go. Much like you may do yoga or work out everyday, it is critical to have a daily social practice to keep meeting people and have abundance. A social practice is NOT about the outcome, but instead about authentically expressing yourself and meeting men or women.

4. You should forget about pick up lines. They are inauthentic and will not help you meet people. Instead, act from your authentic expression and observations to meet people. For example, if you are at the grocery store and see a cute man or beautiful woman you want to talk to looking at olive oil, you can also pick up a bottle of olive oil and ask them about the olive oil. The goal is just to start a conversation.

5. DON'T go to bars or nightclubs as part of your social practice. Your social practice should be part of your daily life. While you can go to bars and nightclubs for fun, they segment your social practice to only the weekend, and you are interacting with people who are intoxicated and thus fundamentally different from their real selves.

6. Don't give into fear. It is often scary to approach and talk to a man or woman you find attractive, but it is important that you approach them anyways for your social practice. You win as long as you confront you fear, not based on the outcome.

DATING DO NOTS

FOR WOMEN: Do not smother or mother a man. Men need to have their space especially early in the relationships. If a man needs to be mothered, he is probably not fully developed and is likely not a good man to be in a relationship.

FOR MEN: Do not get "one-itis". It is easy for men to fall into the trap of thinking she is the perfect woman, but if you do so, you may miss the signs that she sends indicating she may not be the right woman for you or miss other woman that may be better for you. This ultimately ends in a downward spiral when this does not work out.

John concludes by pointing out that, ultimately, your most important relationship is with yourself and it is critical to be authentic.
