There's been contention on how to use the 4* Tech Candy from the Poison Training Event (Viola and Koga are the only candidates). Here is my 2 cents.
If you don't have 2/5 Viola already, by all means use the candy on her. Her utility as a tank, reliable trapper and Sp.Atk debuffer synergize excellently for Karen team comps and Viola rolls through BV Tate & Liza, BV Lyra and BV Noland. But I do have 2/5 Viola, so it gets a little trickier.
3/5 Viola's only meaningful buff is First Aid 4. It is an excellent skill and makes Viola a reliable tank for multiple BV halls, as it eliminates the need to have constant Potion support for her. However, First Aid 4 won't change how I play Viola that much. Koga on the other hand NEEDS 2/5 to have any meaningful impact on the meta so I bit the bullet and today I want to show you how he does.
2/5 Koga is a little meh. You get Blind Spot for sync nukes and Toxic Power 2 for a minor damage boost. However that's enough to decimate the massive chonker that is Meganium on a single sync. Having multipliers just makes you that much stronger.
3/5 Koga will be a beast, with Venoshock Mind Games 9 for the first guaranteed Sp.Def debuffer in Pokémon Masters, Bob and Weave for a real attack multiplier and sync+ tiles. That'll be a game changer, so I don't feel qualms using the candy and meme around.
Nidoqueen is an interesting choice here. For Koga to function as a striker he needs help applying Poison or he'll get his hands wrapped using Poison Fang instead of attacking. Tech Nidoqueen is legitimately the best Poison applicator right now and she is what Janine wishes she could be. Poison Sting naturally has good chances of inflicting Poison and is very spammy, but Tech Nidoqueen has Hostile Environment 1 as a passive so her chances to Poison suddenly skyrocket. Besides that her kit is nearly identical to Ariados, but at 1* potential Nidoqueen is fragile and needs babysitting.
I thought about using Cheryl over Sabrina but Nidoqueen needs Reflect support. Venom Drench debuffs and Reflect were key to prevent her death on sync.
I don't think I performed too well on this battle but the dodge deaths were funny.
