Hong Kong Hustle: Episode 8 — Above the City & Beyond 🌄🙏
We start the day with simple comforts famous pineapple buns and bubble tea, fuel for the journey ahead. Along the way, the scent of sweet potatoes baking fills the air, a small but unforgettable local moment before we head upward.
A scenic cable car ride takes us to Ngong Ping Village, lifting us high above the city and into complete calm. We make the trek to see the Tian Tan Buddha, unexpectedly meeting fellow travellers from Wollongong, a reminder of how small the world really is. The day unfolds gently as we explore beautiful temples, enjoy a delicious lunch, and soak in the peaceful atmosphere before heading back toward the city.
On the way, we stop through local markets for mangosteen and bao buns, followed by a slightly confusing (but funny) moment at a noodle restaurant; thinking my dinner was forgotten, only to realise it just needed a little more time to cook.
We end the day with an evening stroll along the harbour, city lights reflecting on the water, closing out a day filled with stillness, surprises, and connection.
