Seoul is the capital and largest city of South Korea located in the northwestern part of the country. It has a population of more than 10 million people and is considered as a bustling metropolis with a rich cultural heritage. Its history goes back to over two thousand years and has experienced numerous changes throughout its lifespan.
In 1961, Seoul Korea was in an interesting period of time. The country was still recovering from the ravages of the Korean War, which lasted from 1950 to 1953 and claimed the lives of millions of people. The city was left in ruins, and many of its residents were struggling to rebuild their lives. However, despite the war's devastation, the people of Seoul were determined to move forward and create a better future for themselves and their country.
During this era, the city was experiencing rapid economic growth as the government implemented policies, including the Five-Year Economic Development Plan, which aimed to boost the country's economy and stimulate growth. The city saw massive investments in urban infrastructure, including road networks, public transportation, and the construction of new buildings.
Despite the challenges, Seoul was also becoming a hub for culture and art. Many famous Korean artists and musicians, including Yoon Bok-hee and Kim Min-ki, were emerging on the scene and contributing to a cultural renaissance. The city's art scene was also evolving, with the establishment of institutions like the National Museum of Korea.
