⁍ In this episode, we travel from Shimla to the remote village of Ruhildhar, located at 2,200 metres and surrounded by apple orchards. This 126 km HRTC bus journey takes us through Theog, Chhaila, Kotkhai, Kharapathar, Jubbal, Hatkoti, Anti and Nandpur before reaching Ruhildhar.
⁍ One of the highlights of this journey is the HRTC bus itself. This 10 years old bus is maintained by its driver Suresh Thakur Ji, who has kept it in excellent condition for years.
⁍ After reaching Ruhildhar, we spend the night with the bus staff because there are no hotels, restaurants, homestays or rest houses in the village.
⁍ The next morning, we explore Ruhildhar and Nandpur, visit the apple orchards, see the apple harvesting and grading process, and learn how technology is now being used to sort apples by size, colour, weight and quality.
