Since the fire, Madam Johnson and the children have been taking refuge since last month in a nearby church, where they now sleep while hoping for support from well-meaning Liberians.

Speaking during an interview with our reporter, the distressed grandmother said life has become extremely difficult for her family, especially as she has reached retirement age as a civil servant and has little to depend on after retirement, noting that she now struggles to provide basic necessities for the children.

Madam Johnson is now appealing to individuals, humanitarian groups, and government institutions to come to her aid during what she describes as one of the most painful moments of her life.

She says any assistance from food and clothing to building materials will help her and her grandchildren begin to rebuild their lives after the devastating fire.

However, the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, as authorities are still investigating what led to the house being set ablaze.
