This particular unit of the Nikko Super Fox 4WD was in surprisingly good visual condition when I received it. Not that suprising, age has taken a good bite off it's speed. Many of my Nikko vintage models from my collection are now, 30 years old, running really slow. At the same time a good amount of my Taiyo (Tyco) vintage models still has a fair amount of speed. Coinsidence and bad luck? I'm not sure.

I also tried it out off road, but it simply did not have enough power to turn it's wheels on loose dirt and gravel.

To be fair, all the Nikko Super Fox/Nikko Mascot units that has survived today are not running as slow as this one. For a good comparison in speed watch VintageRC_Nut's Nikko Mascot 4WD running here:    • Nikko Mascot vintage rc  

Fast or slow, the classic frame-buggy design of the Nikko Super Fox and the Nikko Turbo Eagle are among some of my favorite Japaneese RC models. Subjectively speaking, only surpassed by the design of the Nikko Turbo Panther and the original Taiyo/Tyco (Jet/Turbo) Hopper Series. What do you think? I am sure these two models has thrilled the hearts of many back in the good old 1980s.
