Pay It Forward Project. Part 1 | Classroom Quick Tips

Описание: Pay It Forward Project. Part 1: In this week’s episode of Classroom Quick Tips, I’m giving a special look at the Pay It Forward project my students have been working on. A Pay It Forward project is a way for students to get involved in active citizenship. They’ll learn that they can make a difference in their community, state, country, and world, through working together and creating a plan of action! It’s a rewarding experience and in a couple of months, I’ll share more about how our project ended up in a Part 2 video. So far we’ve done the following:
Step 1: Increase Awareness
Step 2: Deliberation-Which issue should we select?
Step 3: Become an Expert

Note: The steps listed above were adapted from the action plans presented in Project Citizen (Center for Civic Education, 2006) & Take Action (Kielburger and Kielburger, 2002).

Through this process, students have had a lot of ownership over the project and are motivated to help the endangered sea otters, our project’s focus. :) Have you done a Pay It Forward project with your students? I’d love to hear from you. Thank you so much for watching.
