Valiyaparamba is a rapidly growing tourism destination in Kerala, known for being the longest island in the state. It spans approximately 16.14 square kilometers and is located five kilometers southwest of Cheruvathur, with a population of 11,917 as of 1991. The island, separated from the mainland by Kavvayi Backwater, relies on tourism, agriculture, and fishing for income. It consists of 13 wards under the Valiyaparamba Panchayat and is enriched by four rivers and various small islands, making it a prominent fishing hub. Key landmarks include Bekal Fort and a National Waterway. Education is served by seven primary schools and one higher secondary school. Accessibility is provided by Mavila Kadappuram Bridge and Valiyaparamba edayilekad Bridge, with trikkaripur is the nearest railway station away from valiyaparamba(approx. 5KM) and major airports are kannur and manglore.
