🦅 SANDY IS ACTUALLY FLYING!! 🪽😱 Our Queen-in-training jumped and
HOVERED mid-air inside the nest today — wings extended, feet off
the ground, body controlled. This isn't practice anymore. This
is FLYING. Team Sandy, our girl might be the FIRST to fledge! 👑

📍 In this absolutely jaw-dropping clip, Sandy (hatched April 4)
demonstrated true flight inside the nest. She jumped, hovered
mid-air with control, and even tried to fly across the nest
space. This is LITERALLY the final pre-fledge milestone — full
flight capability, just in a confined space. Once she's confident
enough to launch out toward a branch, FLEDGE happens. We could be
days, or even HOURS, away from first flight. Team Sandy fans,
prepare yourselves! 🥹

🦅 ABOUT JACKIE & SHADOW
Jackie and Shadow are the world-famous bald eagle pair of Big Bear
Valley, California. Their nest sits 145 feet high in a Jeffrey
Pine, monitored 24/7 by Friends of Big Bear Valley (FOBBV). Jackie
is believed to be the first bald eagle ever hatched and fledged in
Big Bear. Shadow won her over in 2018. Together they have raised
four eaglets to fledge: Simba, Spirit, Sunny, and Gizmo — and now
Sandy and Luna are following in their footsteps.
