India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He arrived in the country at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Before departing, PM Modi referred to the Crown Prince as a brother and said he was looking forward to co-chairing the second meeting of the India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council. At least six MoUs are expected to be signed between the two countries. These agreements will likely focus on strengthening economic ties, enhancing defence cooperation, and addressing regional political challenges. This is also PM Modi’s third visit to Saudi Arabia, following trips in 2016 and 2019.
