I've gone on record time and time again about not being a fan of the Igavania games, or the Metroidvania genre in general, and about preferring the classic-style Castlevania games, but that doesn't stop me from appreciating a good soundtrack when I hear one!

Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance may have the most underrated soundtrack in the entire series, and that's saying a lot considering just how great these soundtracks tend to be! Back when I was playing the GBA games for the first time I much preferred Aria of Sorrow's soundtrack, I thought Harmony sounded weird, low-quality and, well, dissonant, for lack of a better term, but as the years went by I not only grew a certain fondness for this unconventional soundtrack, but it ended up becoming one of my favourites! I like it even better than Aria's now! I can much better appreciate it now that I can tell just how layered and complex the compositions are, and just how much more interesting the sound is in general, using the GBA's direct audio to play simple waveforms, not dissimilar to what you'd hear coming out of a PC engine, in fact, I could have made it sound pretty much identical to the original, but I chose to make it sound a little more distinct, and more "PC-engine-esque" if you know what I mean...

Honestly, I don't even think I had it in me to actually do this by ear, it's too complex, I'm glad I could get it done at all thanks to that other cover...
