Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has called for volunteers to be managed better -- specifically on how they are engaged and retained. At an industry conference, he noted that the volunteerism rate in Singapore has come down to 22% from 35% in 2016. Mr Wong said organisation leaders need to invest in the growth and development of volunteers and help them recognise a larger purpose to their work.
