A Brief History of Leicester Mela:
The festival began in 1982 as the Belgrave Carnival in Cossington Park, growing over the decades into a massive celebration that has moved between Abbey Park and Leicester city centre. After a pandemic break, it returned in 2022 — and in 2024 came back to Abbey Park as a two-day extravaganza.
