We have inspected the bed wear on this lathe by mounting a dial indicator on the saddle and zeroing it at the extreme tailstock end of the bed, on the flat surface where the tailstock locates. This area does not experience wear and can therefore be used as a reliable reference point.
The saddle was then traversed toward the chuck. No movement was observed on the dial indicator. Had any movement been present, the amount shown would represent the relative bed wear compared to the unworn reference area.
