You'll need epoxy and a hack saw, to do it the way I did it. I sawed the head of the spike off, then dropped it in the pre-drilled hole in the rake handle, whilst filled with epoxy. Rock solid, and dirt-cheap!
Distance-throwing I get about 40-50 foot range; I want to set up a close-range target (20-30 feet) to simulate throwing at a closing enemy line.
Live and learn, and once I get it down, I'll assassinate some milk-jugs for you!
