NABJS 2026 Mixer Recap + Highlights

A few weeks ago at Bike Dog Brewing, the National Association of Black Journalists Sacramento chapter gathered the community for its second annual Networking Mixer, and the room felt like momentum.

Reporters, editors, producers, students and media leaders came together not just to swap business cards, but to build infrastructure. Relationships were formed. Opportunities were discussed. Culture set the tone.

🎶 Acoustic soul artist Elle Nikole provided the soundtrack.
⚾ Baseball legend Dusty Baker showed up in support.
🎤 Leadership from Vice President Courtney Dempsey helped frame the moment.
🚀 And President Brandi Cummings used the night to officially ignite the runway toward the upcoming Region IV Conference.

This was a fellowship, strategy and a chapter stepping fully into its era.
