Within those stone walls, pews become tables, the pulpit becomes a stage, and villagers gather not for preaching but for song, drink, and merriment.

In my version I have paired the lyric with a lively jig that I’ve called the Dunkeld Jig. After the satire has played out, the band drives the whole story into dance—an invitation for us all to join the villagers in their imagined revelry. The arrangement is driven by fiddle, pipes, accordion, guitar, banjo, bass, and bodhrán, capturing the ceilidh atmosphere that the lyric so vividly paints.
