In this video, I break down everything you need to know about the VVT solenoid on a 1st gen Toyota Sequoia (2005–2007) and 1st gen Toyota Tundra (2005–2006) with the 4.7L 2UZ-FE VVT-i engine.
If your Sequoia or Tundra is running rough, throwing a check engine light, or showing codes like P0010, P0020, or P1349, your VVT-i solenoid might be the culprit. I’ll show you what the solenoid does, where it's located, how to test it, and how to replace it.
This is a super common issue on high-mileage 4.7L Toyota V8s, and the good news is — it’s a cheap, easy fix you can do yourself.
Fits:
2005–2007 Toyota Sequoia 4.7L V8 (2UZ-FE VVT-i)
2005–2006 Toyota Tundra 4.7L V8 (2UZ-FE VVT-i)
Symptoms of a bad VVT solenoid:
Rough idle
Sluggish acceleration
Poor fuel economy
Check Engine Light (CEL)
VVT-related engine codes
Whether you're DIY’ing your fix or just want to understand what’s going on under the hood, this video gives you all the facts.
