JEAN ADAM GUILAIN (c.1680 - c.1739)

Little is known about his life. JEAN ADAM GUILAIN was born in Germany, possibly around 1680 (the exact dates of birth and death are unknown). The organ collection of Guilain is dedicated to Marchand, then a prominent organ teacher. Guilain died sometime after 1739, the year in which he published a collection of harpsichord pieces.

Er is weinig bekend over zijn leven. JEAN ADAM GUILAIN werd geboren in Duitsland, mogelijk rond 1680 (de exacte data van geboorte en overlijden zijn onbekend). Om onbekende reden verhuisde hij enige tijd vóór 1702 naar Frankrijk, en werd vrijwel zeker een van de leerlingen van Louis Marchand (1669-1732) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_M...
De orgelcollectie van Guilain is opgedragen aan Marchand, toen een prominente orgelleraar.
Guilain stierf enige tijd na 1739, het jaar waarin hij een verzameling klavecimbelstukken publiceerde.

Philippe le Picard- ORGEL - GRONSVELD 1711
Bij de laatste restauratie van het orgel is vast komen te staan dat het orgel in 1711 voltooid is door 'Philippe Le Picard de Liège'.
De Picards zijn een orgelbouwers geslacht uit het Belgische Luik, dat zijn wortels had in Picardie in Noord Frankrijk.
Er zijn een aantal brieffragmenten in de hoeden van de pijpen gevonden en ook inscripties op het pijpwerk gaven veel informatie over de herkomst van het orgel. Deze gegevens bewijzen dat het instrument te 'Gronsfelt' door de Familie Le Picard gebouwd moet zijn.

Philippe le Picard- ORGAN at GRONSVELD [NL] 1711
The organ in the St. Martin church in Gronsveld was built in 1711 by Philippe le Picard, an organ builder who had just moved from Northern France to Liège.
It is a three-keyboard instrument.
The Récit is only discant.
The disposition is almost complete from 1711.
The pedal was originally a independent chest pedal but was expanded during the restoration of 1974.
In 2002 a Trumpet 8' was made for the pedal.
The noble family arms on the organ and in other places in the church are signs of the former county of Gronsveld.
