Announcement of the nominations for the 97th edition of the Oscars, during a virtual event without in-person media coverage. The successive postponements have been caused by the wildfires, allowing voting to be extended. The 97th Oscars ceremony remains scheduled for Sunday, March 2, at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. The nominees for the 2025 Academy Awards will be announced this week, and viewers are on the edge of their seats waiting to find out who will be in the running. The re-scheduled announcement, hosted by Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang, will take place Thursday morning, January 23, in a live presentation from the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater via global live stream on Oscars.org. It will also air live on the Academy’s social media platforms
One of the frontrunners is The Substance star Demi Moore, for playing a woman who swaps her body for a younger and more beautiful version of herself.
Equally, there is a huge amount of affection towards Pamela Anderson, who has already scored surprise SAG and Golden Globe nominations for her vulnerable and powerful performance in The Last Showgirl as an aging Las Vegas performer.
The Academy Awards ceremony, hosted by US comic Conan O'Brien, will take place on 2 March.
