Water is essential for your body to function properly. Staying well hydrated is also helpful for your sleep.
Being dehydrated makes it harder to sleep. Our bodies naturally lose fluid during sleep through sweating and also when we breathe through our mouth.
Recently, some new studies show that insufficient sleep puts you at risk for dehydration because of a disruption of a hormone called vasopressin which affects your body’s urine production.
On the flip side, excessive water drinking can result in several sleep disruptions due to frequent urination.
Sometimes when we are busy during the day, we may find ourselves drinking more water as bedtime approaches.
In this video I discuss the benefits of being well hydrated to optimize sleep while making sure excessive water drinking does not get in the way!
