Today, I show you 3 awesome sweep-legato guitar licks, and I walk you through how to combine and integrate each technique. As you probably already know, sweep picking refers to what the picking hand does and legato refers to a technique of the fretting hand. The most important thing in combining the two techniques is the timing between each hand.

More specifically, it’s crucial that your picking hand doesn’t “stop” and lose momentum when sweep picking, as it may have to slow down (but not stop) as it waits for the fretting hand to perform its legato motions.
