One. Automatic hyphenation in Word

1. Select the "Layout" tab, click the "Hyphenation" icon, select "Automatic", then all words in paragraphs that do not fit at the end of a line are automatically hyphenated -.

2. Note: Even if "Automatic " is checked, not every time you enter a word at the end of the line will be automatically hyphenated, which is related to the amount of space left.


Two. Manual hyphenation in Word

1. Click the "hyphenation" icon, select "Manual", open the "Manual Hyphenation" window, the hyphenation position has been automatically marked (the position where the bold cursor flashes and there is a hyphen), click "Yes", indicating that the "hyphenation" has been completed.

2. Manual hyphenation will automatically find which words in the document can be broken, and then a window pops up for us to confirm whether it is disconnected, just like the above operation.


Three. Turn off hyphenation in Word

Select the "Layout" tab, click the "Hyphenation" icon, select "None", and all hyphenation in the document is canceled.

Only one hyphenation is canceled, and as long as the hyphen is removed, the hyphenation is automatically canceled.


Four. Hyphenation not working in Word (Do not hyphenate in word)

Select the "Layout" tab, click the "Oblique Arrow" to the right of "Paragraph" to open the "Paragraph" window, select the "Line and Page Breaks" tab, uncheck "Don't hyphenation", click "OK", and then restore the hyphenation.

Five. Hyphenation options in Word

1. Select the "Layout" tab, click "Hyphenation", select "Hyphenation Options", open the "Hyphenation" window, set the "Limit consecutive hyphens" to 1, and click "OK".

2. "Hyphenation Option" can be set with three items, namely: Hyphenate words in CAPS, Hyphenation Zone and Limit consecutive hyphens to, of which "Hyphenate words in CAPS" can be checked or unchecked, that is, when not checked, all capitalized words will also be hyphenated; The "Hyphenation Zone" refers to the maximum number of spaces allowed between the word and the right margin without hyphenation, which is grayed out here.
