About Narrowboat Expats:
👋 We're NIgel and Sue. We're a British American couple (Nigel from Sunderland, Sue from Taunton, MA). In 2022, we sold our home in MA, USA. We jumped on a plane and spent five months traveling around the UK petsitting.

While petsitting on the banks of the River Lark, near Ely, we watched the narrowboats going by and started to explore a narrowboat as a way we could spend more time in the UK. We both enjoy traveling and want to take the time to do that now, while we're still physically able.

There are all sorts of reasons why we don't want to make the UK our permanent home, not the least of which is that our children and grandchildren are all in the USA; but we love the UK and want to spend as much time there as we're able. At present, four months is the longest we can stay in the UK without changing residency, and then only if we aren't working.

So we've chosen early retirement and a life of adventure!
