#Dlium Begonia vine or cissus javana (Cissus discolor) is a plant species in the Vitaceae, herbaceous, semi-perennial, grows on the ground or climbs, up to 4 meters long, has two varieties, namely Cissus discolor var. mollis and Cissus discolor var. rotundifolia.
C. discolor has soft fleshy leaves and stems. Leaves have an oval or arrowhead shape, petiole up to 4 cm, heart-shaped base, pointed tip, slightly serrated edge, wavy surface, a main vein in the center with several small pinnate veins.
The leaves on the upper surface have a matte dark green color with silver decoration that fills the space between the veins, while other varieties have only green color. The bottom surface is glossy maroon.
Single stems have a square shape with corners, green or red color and are strong but flexible. The segments produce maroon leaf stalks, roots or spiral stalks as new shoots or hooks to supports for propagating along the ground or climbing trees.
Cissus discolor var. mollis has smaller adult leaves and a narrower shape ratio with a width of 9 cm and a length of 13 cm. Cissus discolor var. rotundifolia has larger mature leaves and a fatter shape ratio with a width of 14 cm and a length of 23 cm.
Flowers in panicles, whitish yellow and red, grow at the junction of the leaves along the stem and have yellow stalks. The fruit is in a panicle, ball-shaped, blackish red, has a large stalk and is red.
This species is usually under large trees as a climbing medium. It grows well in the shade with a sunlight intensity of 60-75% at an elevation of 400-1000 meters on slopes, flat surfaces in primary forests, secondary forests and abandoned lands on clay and sandy soil.
