Range Rover Classic : Sunroof Disassemble / Broken Sled

Описание: My RRC '92 sunroof made a cracking sound when going into "tilt." From there, when trying to close it, it simply sagged at the window rear.

It worked otherwise, forward and backward. To me this made no sense. I tried to diagnose while in situ, however since it would not tilt, I could not remove the mechanism covers, and so I could not remove the glass: the first step in fixing any issues with the mechanism.

I removed the headliner and entire assembly from the roof to gain access to the whole thing. I ended up ripping the mechanism covers out (sadly), and they are NLA. They aren't critical however, and a sunroof that closes IS.

Here, you can see my diagnosis of what happened inside the mechanism. The glass had been restricted while trying to tilt it, and the stress the motor caused on the mechanism broke the part in a few places. Easy to replace and reinstall though!

Only tricky parts will be sourcing mechanism covers and revitalizing the sunroof surround seal around the glass that was ultimately what caused the restriction and the break.

Hope this helps others. The service manual is absolutely terrible for this repair.
